Our Story
Katie & Bryant first met in December of 2009 on Magnolia Street in Macon, Georgia while attending Mercer University. They wouldn’t date until years later after Bryant served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Mongolia and received his Master’s Degree at the University of Warwick in England. While Katie was earning her Juris Doctor from Mercer Law school, Bryant accepted a job as Study Abroad Coordinator at Mercer University. After Bryant’s many attempts to meet for “tea” and catch-up after their “uni” days, Katie finally agreed to go on a first date with Bryant in 2015. He cooked a fun dinner from the Pines & Plantations cookbook at his downtown apartment & they hit it off immediately.
Bryant pulled off the perfect proposal on May 13, 2017. After secretly asking Mr. & Mrs. Dunnam’s permission for Katie’s hand in marriage months prior, Bryant planned a horseback riding date at a local plantation in Thomasville. While riding & enjoying the landscape, Katie & Bryant stopped in a clearing overlooking the property underneath an ancient oak. Bryant got down on one knee and asked Katie to marry him – the answer was “yes!” As they headed back to the main house, to Katie’s complete surprise and joy, the Dunnams and Hardens were waiting there to celebrate the exciting news. Bryant had planned every detail – from ensuring family was there for the festivities, to serving the meal he cooked Katie on their first date, to using Katie’s favorite champagne for a celebratory toast.
